Choose Your Own Adventure C39
“I know you are tired, but we need to keep moving,” you tell Rosalind. “We need to get far away from the goblins. And your mother is to the east. Once you are back with her, she can take you back to your kingdom and you will be safe.” Rosalind reluctantly agrees.
You decide since Rosalind’s mother, Queen Ophilia, is to the east that you will leave the trail and head east through the forest. Hopefully you can eventually figure out where you are, retrace your steps, and find her.
You walk most of the day without any signs of danger. You decide it is safe to finally rest as night begins to fall. You are in need of rest, and you know Rosalind is too. You hide in some bushes and sleep.
The next day, you are both rested and you resume travelling. You travel for several days, stopping to rest when needed. You are fortunate that you do not run into any goblins, orcs, or other dangers. But you can only hope that you can find Ophilia again.
And then you find her. First you hear the gruff voices of orcs and the fearful cries of a woman. And then you peer through the trees and spot them. An orc has Ophilia! She is stripped naked and pinned against a tree. She is pleading for mercy. There are two other orcs standing nearby.
Rosalind’s eyes widen with horror. “We have to help my mother,” she whispers.
“There is nothing we can do for her, not with that many orcs,” you whisper back. “We should run or they will catch us too.”
“No, I am going to stay here and watch these orcs and see where they take my mother. Then once I know, we can get help to rescue her.”
You try to convince Rosalind to run. You know how lucky you were to successfully sneak into the goblin encampment. You do not want to risk that again, especially with orcs. But Rosalind insists she will not leave her mother and will try to tail the orcs to see where they take her. You will either have to stay with Rosalind and try to tail the orcs, or flee on your own. Which do you do?
B) Get out of there!
