Choose Your Own Adventure B18
You do not want to kill anyone. But you know you have no choice. There are two of these men and both look stronger than you. They will never run away or surrender. They will harm you and this woman unless you act using the element of surprise. You jump up and quickly stab the one man through the back with the sword. His dying screams startle the other man, and he stops thrusting into the woman's mouth. But as he stands. you bury the blade into his chest. You drop the sword, in shock at what you have just done as both men quickly bleed out and expire.
You sit down on the ground, still in shock. But the woman crawls over to you. "Thank you," she whimpers weakly. "You saved me from those vile men. I am Queen Ophilia of Mizia."
Ophilia tells you her story. She and her daughter had been out in the forest when she had spotted the outlaws, before the outlaws had spotted them. She had told her daughter to run and then she had deliberately shown herself to the outlaws, so that her daughter could get away before they spotted her. But Ophilia was terrified. The outlaws might find her daughter. Or the orcs. Plus, her own kingdom was at war with its neighboring kingdom of Qurritia. She is fearful her daughter is out there somewhere, lost in the forest to be plucked up by the first villain that sees her.
Ophilia tries to stand but she cries out in pain and grabs her ankle and falls back down. "My ankle was sprained when those men captured me," she whimpers. "I would go for my daughter myself but I can hardly move. Please, I must ask you a favor. Can you go find my daughter? Her name is Rosalind. She has blonde hair, like her father. She was running west. I am sure she has not gone far."
You look west. You do not want to leave Ophilia here with a sprained ankle. Nor are you keen about heading off alone into the forest that Ophilia just warned you was teeming with dangerous men and orcs. But you can see the despair and fear in Ophilia's eyes.
What do you do?
